A new way to contact your GP surgery

We are changing the way that patients contact the surgery.

What is changing?

From 8th July, we will be changing the way patients contact and access the surgery.  From this date, all requests for a GP appointment, as well as administrative and medication queries, will be through a standardised request form which will be available online through our surgery website, or by telephoning us, or visiting the surgery.

This request form will help us to gather information about your query or medical condition. Every request will be reviewed by a GP or a member of the surgery team within one working day and urgent requests will be prioritised. For a medical request, a GP will either contact you themselves, ask a member of the reception team to arrange an appropriate appointment for you or offer you advice through your preferred contact method.

We would encourage you to access the online form through the surgery website. However, if you are not able to do this yourself, you can telephone the surgery and one of the reception team will be more than happy to complete the form with you. If you prefer to come to the surgery, our receptionist can help you complete the form if this is needed. There will be a tablet available for you to do this yourself if you prefer.

All GP surgeries are being encouraged by NHS England to improve digital, online and telephone access for patients to appropriate appointments.

The aim is to improve speed and continuity of care, and the surgery team are committed to achieving these aims. By effectively gathering information with each patient through the request form, your GP and the surgery team will be able to make an informed decision about the best care pathway for you.  All information patients provide will be treated in confidence.

What is not changing?

Patients will continue to be able to:

  • book nurse, healthcare assistant and phlebotomy (blood test) appointments by calling the surgery
  • access urgent on-the-day GP appointments where these are necessary
  • remain with their registered GP for continuity of care

Here to help!

Please ask if you need any assistance in completing the request form and a member of the reception team will be happy to help.  We know our patients are very understanding, we just ask you to please bear with us during this short period of change.

We have arranged for an open morning on 3rd July 2024 between 10:30am and 12:30pm at the surgery where patients can receive help with accessing online health services. Please contact reception to book a slot.
